Counting down the days...

But before that! It's been 5 months since my last post! During which.. TEENS CONFERENCE happened! Along with a whole bunch of other things, which makes me wish I updated more frequently than I do =( but I'll try to recap.
Teens Conference 2011. What can I say? There's nothing like 4 epic days of cheering, games-leading, dancing, etc. N just seeing the kids open up and be insanely energetic is AWESOME. God is working through this ministry to spread the Word, raise new leaders, and form relationships of all kinds! Being a rec-member for the second year, I knew what to expect during the weeks and weeks of prep, as well as the 4 days of intensive labor! Yes, playing games is HARD WORK! I met quite a few newbies this year and saw many old familiar faces. This year's rec team has been amazing in its own way. Seeing the gifts each member possesses, building on each others strengths and supporting each others weaknesses.. that is REC. I'm really glad I had the opportunity to serve in this capacity once again and to have met everyone in this ministry. I'm soooooo freaking proud of how much work everyone put into making TC a successful + smoothly run event! As with every year, there are a ton of things on the agenda and it's really hard to allocate enough time for those items as well as setting aside time for team bonding, which is ESSENTIAL. We all had a role to play, whether it's in leadership, planning, acting, video related stuff, dancing, etc. I'm so proud of how well we all did, but more importantly, we had FUN doing it! n MOST importantly, we kept it in our hears that this is all for God! Each member on the team this year has been a blessing to me, in one way or another. I also learned the benefits of shamelessness XD but serious. One lesson (of many) that God really brought my attention to was that He is all that matters, no one else's opinion really matters, ultimately. PTL for His working hand in my life! At this point, roughly 2 months after the event, once again another lesson... this time in the form of a song at a coffeehouse. The lyrics are written by J-To, the song title being "Don't Believe the Hype". He truly has a gift that God clearly used to send me a message. Especially with an event like TC, the hype is crazy! It's so easy to get lost in it and lose track of what ultimately matters.. Jesus Christ. Hype is a great motivator for change, but we must continually take up our cross and live to follow Christ. He is our Saviour and without Him, we are nothing. At the same time, without commitment from our end, we can't expect Him to do all of the work. It's about time I equip myself with the weapons for spiritual battle: Faith, the Word, and Prayer. To any of you who are still somehow following this random blog, thanks! N I'd like to ask if you ever see me, challenge me by keeping me accountable to growing spiritually. I'm declaring a war on my sinful nature.

Wow.. that's quite a jumble of thoughts I've finally been able to solidify into a post! Now for the counting down... there are 5 wks left in my school term (including this week) and I have to say.. I feel a little overwhelmed with the amount of work I have to get done! x.x" Here are my things to do: 1) Health Promotion Group Project Proposal, 2) Ethics Final - Essay Outline (and thus the exam itself), 3) Technique (practical) exam, 4) Orthopedics practical test, 5) Diagnosis practical test, 6) Anatomy Study Guide, 7)6 Exams: Radiology, Health Promotion, Orthopedics, Anatomy, Diagnosis, and finally the OSCE (a summary of all the material we have learned this year). Looking at it, as long as I work hard and with God's continual support, I can do it =) I just need to continually work this month. I can't wait till the summer for some fun times, and perhaps taking the test to be a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS).

That's all for now!

6 months later...

So it's been 6 months, 4 of which I've been studying my life away. A little recap.. summer was awesome! O-wk was just plain epic, especially since it cost sooooo little. Day 1: Orientation, Day 2: Dinner Cruise, Day 3: Average Joe's Olympics, Day 4: The Zoo, Day 5: Party!! okay... so my memory isn't 100% accurate, but w/e... point is, O-wk.. AWESOME!
Rest of the school experience... fun! till about last month, when I realized how much I needed to know for anatomy! Once again now that I know I have 10 exams over the course of 5 days in Module 3! SAY WHAT?!!! <- was my reaction. Been meeting new people everyday (some not for the first time) but I think it will take a while before I get to know my entire class... of 200 students ish. It's pretty much a school full of athletes... so now I'm quite motivated to improve my physical condition, though, finding time might be an issue. So far the school has had... Softball, European Handball, Soccer/Football, and Basketball Intramurals.
I've met some fellow Christians at my school, one of which has restarted the fellowship on campus! WOOOO! Hoping to grow in it as well as in my home church over the next 4 years. God's been doing awesome things to put me where I need to be, to become who He has planned for me to become. Right now, my passing marks also rely on Him.
Well that was a really summed up and rushed update as to what's been happening. I'd write some interesting epiphany's down, but they always happen right before I fall asleep... or perhaps in my dreams which I forget all about soon after... except for the one about me having failed my anatomy exam and needing to write the remedial... hah.. hah.. ha... =( *knock on wood*

That iz all for nowz!

Nice one God XD

Things are tying in very well with my current bible studies for fellowship. We just went through the story of Joseph, and I guess the message that was clearest to me is God's providence and plan. I was thinking about things that happened during the past school year, which I guess started nearing the end of 3rd year. My first two years at Western had been party happy, but I didn't spend much time with everyone in ACF or with God. Things started to change at the end of 3rd year. I guess there were a series of tests that made me more aware of my current standing in my faith and well, personal struggles. So during 4th year, I started getting more involved in ACF, and this is also when Pris suggested a bunch of us apply for TC Rec. Now it had been 8 years since my first/last TC and I never would've guessed that I would have the opportunity to be a part of the Rec team as a way of coming back to the conference. But before I was ready to serve, my heart and focus had to be in the right place (we're all ADD kids right? XD). Over the previous years, my focus had shifted from God to raising myself up (pride?) and well finding another relationship, a dating relationship to be precise (I don't wanna be a 'lonely driver' ='( ! - someone might get that reference...). But over the following months through to final exams, God has sent me hints and nudges in the right direction and understanding that I'm probably not ready yet, especially since it's much more important to strengthen my relationship with God right now. One great video series (that apparently everyone knows about) is the one on love and marriage. What stuck with me is the responsibility of the man in the household and well in all other relationships as well. To be able to lead the partner/kids to understanding God's will.
When thinking about my participation in TC, if my focus had been in the wrong place, I think I wouldn't have had as much fun! It will be an experience I look back on that won't be forgotten. Everything from the cheers of the participants, being the ninja in skits and performances, to the epic worship sessions (with REC only / with the rest of the conference) and times of prayer. One memory I'm reminded of was the time of prayer REC had for the individuals who became ill on the last day. It was a powerful moment that stood out to me, probably because I had never experienced anything along those lines before! I definitely was blessed for being able to be a part of this year's TC and to meet all the brothers and sisters on Rec that I have had the opportunity to hang out and have fun with even months after meeting them.
The funning thing about God's plans is that you may never know how big the picture can get! In my case, it's all these nudges that I thought were for TC, have now become the foundation for something else that is also amazing! That something is having a weekly bible study and bonding time with my parents. To be honest, I don't think my family has ever really been close with one another. It felt more like a business contract rather than a real, warm family. How it happened or why, I know all too well, but the important thing is that we're slowly coming together as a family with God in the center. PTL!

Well that's all for now, eventually I hope to have a more regular posting habit and turn this blog into a journal =)

Undergrad... Done?!

Soo, it's been almost a year since my last post (sincere apologies to all of you that follow/read my blog). I have so many experiences I would like to write about, which I'll list out so I know what to write about next time... God's actions in my life since Christmas, TC REC 2010!, Summer activity... and I guess I'll start it off with graduation and maybe a bit from Banquet?

Okay... graduation... really???? The whole concept still hasn't fully hit me (probably won't till convocation). Of course, the other factor is that I have 4 more years of schooling to look forward to (oh that's another topic to write about... CMCC!!). Looking back on all the amazing years at Western, I can only remember all the fun times (subjective lensing lolol). Before anything, I'd like to textually convey my thanks to God for putting me in Western (THANKS GOD! YOU'RE AWESOME!) and on that note, thanks to all of you who have become a part of my life... I feel like I'm stealing this line from brii, but really every one of you has made a significant impact on my life, cause really, every little bit counts =). Hmmm... I guess the first group, and also the group I'm going to miss the most is my fellow grads. I feel like I had been able to get to know most of you (unfortunately not all ><) and, well, what an AWESOME bunch XD. I mean, I didn't really get involved in ACF or really start meeting people and getting to know people until 3rd year. Though I feel that it could have been so much better if I got into things earlier on, it's all a part of God's ultimate plan for my life, right? Groups... in retrospect, not so applicable.. there's too many people I can mention right now as I'm flooded with memories from the past 4 years. I just hope that as we all move into the next chapter of our lives (for those graduating) and for those who remain at Western for a little while longer, that the relationships we all have would not fade, but only grow stronger!
Soo in a few weeks, it'll be time for CONVOCATION! yay.. a 2 hr drive for 2+ hrs of ceremonies and photos, photos, and more photos. SEE ALL YOU HEALTHSCI PPL THERE!

Thinking back to banquet.. I heard after the fact that everyone knew that I would be doing wedding dress in our presentation... original plan was to use it as a fakeout for something else! but that something else never got suggested, so we ended up going with the whole wedding dress routine. But I've only been to a total of 3/4 banquets throughout undergrad, and shared once before. I was going to share a little something this year too, but everyone else kinda covered it all. So to everyone still in Western, good luck with the academics, cherish the times you have with each other, and continue to grow in Christ! Build up new leaders too ^^

All the thoughts/topics I have that I wanna talk about are just a jumble in my mind (hence the randomness in order), surfacing whenever I'm not preoccupied with things that need to be done. Hopefully over the next short while, I'll be able to post everything in my heart and mind. Look forward to it =)

Me: The Forgetful One

So... once again.. it has been a long wait for the next post... 3 months now? ch'yeah...
I'm now in the midst of my summer courses, and it has been pretty awesome. All that excessive anime I've watched is finally doing something for my GPA! Aye but I don't know if it'll count to certain places I will be applying to. Med school is officially out of my reach, but it's cool... I'm down to 3 choices: 1) Chiropracting, 2) Naturopathic Medicine, 3) Teach English in Japan =). Yeah, I feel like #3 would be soooo fun... I'd love to travel, but the main thing right now is to get a steady income going. So for those of you who are following or have been praying, please pray for my parents... health-wise and business-wise. Mmm.. praise God for my ref job next year and that I got workstudy! yay! Now the 'interesting' job seach is on... I've gone through almost all of the jobs and they all seem the same... ugh... ah wells... In light of the workstudy... things now need to change for my summer plans, so I don't know what I should do now...
In regard to other aspects of my daily life in the summer... I'm making progress on developing good study habits and an exercise schedule... so one day I'll be able to perform those bboy moves XD... one day.. oh.. life without internet at home... yeah... not suggested ><". Basically after a certain hour, I am out of contact with everyone (unless I call/get called, but that doesn't happen). Mmmm... that's all I can think of writing in this short amount of time... now to get back to homework... somewhat planning for a sports day... thinking of places to practice dancing (and finding people to join in) n yeah...

February Update?

sooo after being asked to post something new on my blog... I realized how long it's been since I have... so here goes...

School... why have you forsaken me! so I don't know what's going to happen as a future career... need some guidance counseling ASAP. Med is getting farther and farther away from me... and I've got so many options I don't know where my passion is. What to do? Pray. Ohhh while I'm on topic... I had an awesome conversation with my roommate last night. It wasn't really religious or anything but rather scientific, nerdy, and fun. I got another wake up call about how extremely insignificant I am as an individual yet as treasured as everyone is to God. Soo the topic of our chat was like scientific theories and how none of it is really proven.. and how they're all looking for the "God Particle" (wasn't sure whether or not I was supposed to capitalize that, w/e)... we talked about theories about time and space... then how vast the universe was... picture yourself... then zoom out to your community, city, continent, then earth, our solar system, the milky way, the galaxy we reside in, then the KNOWN universe, in which we ask... "where's the milky way?" It's crazy... We also brushed on the end of the world... talked about how all the problems came out at once in the world's largest economic power, the US. How the estimated year of the apocalypse is during our generation (precise date: 2012, but estimates beyond that have been suggested). I shared a bit about the Biblical view of the end of the world with the antichrist and the whole shabam. I had fun interpreting what happens to us... talked about stuff that was shown in the Left Behind series... it was a cool chat ^^. Other academic events: exams ><"

Moving along... so I got a pool tournament tomorrow... I think it's 8-ball... and yeah it's gonna last the whole day pretty much... wish me luck =). Mmmm extra-curriculars are going strong... mainly badminton.. ohohoh, might as well share my extremely lame phrase that I told a few people (they laughed, possibly trying to be nice) but yeah I was sick at the time and still went to play so I was like "yeah, I practically married the sport, I'm with it in sickness and in health" XD. Other news... I dubbed a jap song recently to help a friend complete it, I showed a few people, but anyone reading this blog can feel free to check it out and give CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK! I tried to rap.. I tried... lol; link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSNr8fPHGMI --- Can't think of much else...

Spiritual walk... so going to men's cell is awesome, learning a lot and I'm glad I have such awesome brothers in Christ, fun times =). As for some of the struggles going on... I keep saying this, but I need self-control, discipline, and motivation (maybe a GF could help?). Priorities... get things straight about what's really important to me... I've got random identity crisis moments, when I keep asking myself "WHO AM I?!?!!?!" in that tone XD.. lost track of who the real me is... oh, currently taking a communications course, so... who am I guys? comments? hold nothing back =). mmm... I got a few prayer requests... just for my family's health (most of you probably know what's going on... if you don't msg me, i don't mind sharing), my grandparents and that God will move in their lives and reveal Himself to them so they may believe and be saved. For myself, my education and career direction, as well as a JOB... frig I need a job... need some moneyyy...

Well... just got a call and I'm heading over to Essex to practice pool =)

Till next post (possibly some poetry? well just rhyming - it's a phase)

Awesome Dialogue

So I was looking through some old emails, which brought about a lot of awesome memories. Enoch, this email was from you, and I just re-read this and yeah I'm glad I never deleted it... so here's the awesome dialogue:

An atheist professor of philosophy speaks to his class on the problem science has with God, The Almighty. He asks one of his new Christian students to stand and.....

Professor: You are a Christian, aren't you, son?

Student: Yes, sir.

Prof: So you believe in God?

Student: Absolutely, sir.

Prof: Is God good?

Student: Sure.

Prof: Is God all-powerful?

Student: Yes.

Prof: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to God to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God didn't. How is this God good then? Hmm?

(Student is silent.)

Prof: You can't answer, can you? Let's start again, young fella. Is God good?

Student: Yes.

Prof: Is Satan good?

Student: No.

Prof: Where does Satan come from?

Student: From...God...

Prof: That's right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?

Student: Yes.

Prof: Evil is everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything. Correct?

Student: Yes.

Prof: So who created evil?

(Student does not answer.)

Prof: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don't they?

Student: Yes, sir.

Prof: So, who created them?

(Student has no answer.)

Prof: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son... Have you ever seen God?

Student: No, sir.

Prof: Tell us if you have ever heard your God?

Student: No, sir.

Prof: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God, smelt your God? Have you ever had any sensory perception of God for that matter?

Student: No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.

Prof: Yet you still believe in Him?

Student: Yes.

Prof: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your GOD doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?

Student: Nothing. I only have my faith.

Prof: Yes. Faith. And that is the problem science has.

Student: Professor, is there such a thing as heat?

Prof: Yes.

Student: And is there such a thing as cold?

Prof: Yes.

Student: No sir. There isn't.

(The lecture theatre becomes very quiet with this turn of events.)

Student: Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don't have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.

(There is pin-drop silence in the lecture theatre.)

Student: What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?

Prof: Yes. What is night if there isn't darkness?

Student: You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something.
You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light....But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? In reality, darkness isn't. If it were you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?

Prof: So what is the point you are making, young man?

Student: Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.

Prof: Flawed? Can you explain how?

Student: Sir, you are working on the premise of duality.
You argue there is life and then there is death, a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?

Prof: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.

Student: Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?

(The Professor shakes his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument is going.)

Student: Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavour, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?

(The class is in uproar.)

Student: Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor's brain?

(The class breaks out into laughter.)

Student: Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's brain, felt it, touched or smelt it?
.....No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?

(The room is silent. The professor stares at the student, his face unfathomable.)

Prof: I guess you'll have to take them on faith, son.

Student: That is it sir. The link between man & god is FAITH. That is all that keeps things moving.

May-end Update

Hmm... looks like it's been a while since i've posted... Well I'm continuing to help out at the clinic and I see how much fatigue is accumulated in only a few hours of work. I got some prayer requests for my mom for strength to endure until I am able to support the family. My dad's going with the hormone therapy and naturopathic intervention and prevention from my mom and information from a lot of his friends. Overall, both are doing well but probably very fatigued though they don't show much of it (especially my dad -.-). Thanks for continued prayers guys!
Soo... I've been workin on my plan for the summer... still waiting for news about a summer job. If nothing comes up I may need to go back to working @ Vector ><". As for working out... it's going well. MMA classes are hardcore... blisters constantly coming back... ugh... never actually gone 100% till this class... conditioning.. muay thai... grappling + jujutsu... more conditioning... and stretching... sums up a 2 hour class. Although, I must say, I'm having a LOT of fun in the process. Picking up people, tossing them around... ahh good timez =)
Today, there was a great message at church. Dr. Beverley who's got a lot of experience with apologetics, christian ethics, etc. and he shared about the Islam religion as well as things about Christianity that I had questions about. The key point that I was interested in was definite salvation. I had thought on this topic a lot.. whether or not salvation can be lost or if it is always with you once you become a believer. According to Dr. Beverley, it is definite, a verse says that we cannot be taken away from God's love. This gives me a great deal of assurance. During worship we sang "Mighty to Save" and "Shine". It was awesome cuz those were key songs during the Passion Conference I went to before reading week. It's cool how God reminds you in the simplest ways.
REALLY looking forward to the events lined up during the summer. From going paintballing.. which I'm still waiting for replies... a trip to the beach...birthdays... whenever I can chill with people... and maybe a road trip? Yeah... well first thing's first... job... grrrr...
till my next update...

short update la

well... it's been an interesting first week back in TO. Been pretty busy with work that I do for my parents.. errands, and working at the clinic... sometimes I feel like it's going overboard... like assisting in treatment (should I be doing that?) but yeah, im glad i took ethics XD... now I can participate properly ^^. Well my dad went to see an endocrinologist yesterday, and I sat in the room while they discussed everything. Turns out that my dad had/has osteoperosis as well. I saw the different kinds of medication he's on to prevent any more bone deterioration and now I'm praying for everything to go smoothly. Thanks to everyone for their prayers!
As for my acceptance into UT Lifesci.. it seems that after considering the pros and cons and discussing it with my parents... I prob will not accept it. Mainly because it will cause me to lose quite a few credits I've accumulated over the 2 years I've been at UWO. However, if I manage to get accepted into pharmacy, then that's a different story. If not, I will be able to see everyone back at UWO ^^, where I'll finish up my degree and aim for med school. Or at least that's the plan. Right now, I'm seeking God's guidance and trying to develop diligence and determination over the summer so I can focus on what needs to be done (as most of u know, i have trouble doing). ANYway... time for my appointment at my gym XD... post l8er.

delayed i know... and yes it'll be long

yeah so it's been a while since i've last posted... 2 months? Well, to keep everyone updated (everyone that reads my blog anyway) my dad is doing well, my mom says he is more energetic than before, but obviously he should still rest. Praise God for giving my dad the strength to endure for so long. Regardless of his condition, he still tries to keep track of my agenda and do stuff for me, even though I tell him not to. At the very least, the worst case scenario is out of the picture, so that's awesome. Thanks God!
As for myself, I just got a call from my mom today and I got accepted into UT for life science. Still waiting for news from pharmacy cuz they're slow XD. But yeah, basically, i'll be able to stick around at home and help out. Amazing how God works huh? it's all part of his big plan. Thanks to everyone who's keeping my dad and I in their prayers, they're really helping ^^. One request for myself is to have diligence and focus in my life right now... in order to keep things on task and do what I need to do, especially if it's a part of His plan.
WELL then... SUMMMEEERRRRR!!!! RAWR!!! aren't we all exciteed?!?! i know i am XD. Got myself a packed summer (if everything goes according to plan). A possible job at the Ontario Science Centre... personal training to improve my abilities physically, mentally, and spiritually... a lot of sports ^^... and possibly martial arts / dance. I've always had these types of plans for the summer, though most of the time it doesnt last.. things pop up here and there... hoping that this time will be different.

To Finishing Off the School Year: (feels like writing in yearbooks)
Well 2nd year is over and it's been awesome. Seeing how I'm probably going to be going to UT, just going to go through some key moments and people of the year ^^. Thanks to Joe for giving me a spot on the frisbee team, it was a blast to be a part of, you're an awesome leader joe! Christina... oh christina... what to say... it's been a great year with you... always joking around but that's the best part of hanging around you. It's always a fun time and in all the unserious times, it's also somehow serious... It's awesome to have a sister-in-Christ/"mother" like you in my life. Thanks for keeping me on track all those times! I'll come visit whenever I can over the next year. To the ACFers... you guys are awesome, even though I haven't been a part of a lot of events or even the fellowship times, I know that by being in the same fellowship, you guys are all flames burning for God. To the leaders for the upcoming year, I know you guys will do an outstanding job. Andrew and Kan, my roomates, what can I say? This year has been awesome hanging out with you guys and sticking with you (for the most part) through the thick and thin, ups and downs of this year. I wish you guys good luck in owning school XD. There's been soo much humor in our suite... man I wish I recorded it all on camera. Andrew, don't change, you're awesome (as you know). I know that cuz we're always on the same page. When I try to give you advice, no dice... cuz we think that much alike, you've already considered everything I would say. I admire you're strong will when it comes down to it, and I hope to be like you in that respect for things that i do... to give 200% sometimes more. I know you'll succeed and though I may not see you much, we'll chill whenever possible and keep in touch! Kan... thanks for the support and keeping me on track a lot of the times... oh and wake up calls (both of you). You're a nice guy can, don't get taken advantage of! Keep living for God and doing things that you love! I'm glad to have been able to get to know you, a fellow Christian. I'll see ya around! To the o'l 3E+4W alliance aka Asian Crew, etc... It's been awesome being with you guys.. the times I've been... I know things have been going on and I pray for the best. I'm hoping that things wont be torn to shreds, one day possibly mend it all (though I have no idea of the details). Good luck to all of you for school and all your goals. Alan... ballers for lyfe XD.. ch'yeah.. great times hanging out with you, with the jokes and inuendos, etc... don't take it too far aite?! We'll go chill, play sports, the works over the summer. Richard!! hah, it's always fun times man... thanks for always being a reliable frd... oh and yeah... no more Vector eh XD... yeah enjoy the summer, we'll be hanging out! Glenyx... okay I have to say one thing! Profanity level growing! okay try to keep it toned down okay?? It's always fun times... sometimes too fun... and get no work done XD... u know.. I noticed some changes in you, if u need an ear, i have two =) we'll be chilling over the summer so it'll be fun times XD. Janny, though we rarely even see each other now... keep in touch! Woman, don't work yourself to death okay? I know sometimes you do. It's inspiring to see the amount of effort you put into things and of course it pays off (from what I rmb). New Blog, New Times to Share

Well, I've got another gmail account now, so I figured I'd abandon my old one, not that anyone reads it anyway. My first post will be on PASSION. As many know, I went to Washington D.C. for the conference, and I have to say, God is good. I've been on a spiritual low lately, with little to no activity, which is why I'm so glad God led me to go to PASSION'08. It all started when we saw the promo at ACF. I saw the size of the audience, Louie Giglio and Francis Chan and I instantly felt like being a part of it. I left Toronto 4am on Friday morning and got to the campus 10 hours or so later (glad I pass out so easily ^.^). Had lunch/dinner at Denny's before the first session. I got in at around 7:00pm and I was amazed at how many people were there, it was quite overwhelming but at the same time, refreshing to know there are so many Christians out there. It opened with worship, led by Chris Tomlin (which didn't even click at first - yeah i didn't even realize it was him). The resounding voices were phenomenal, all there to worship God. I did the usual thing, hyped up in singing, but wasn't really whole-hearted in it. Louie Giglio came on to share during that session, and I don't know about most people, but I've been bored at sermons at my church, but this was totally different. I could instantly see the passion this guy had for God, making me pay attention to his every word. I wish I was able to get the CD for the session, but it was sold out ><'. The key points I got out of it was how big God was and how we should take part in Him. He used the analogy of us being individual matches, with limited lifespans, while God is the Eternal Flame. If we throw in our tiny little flame, we are then able to burn for as long as His burns; for ETERNITY.
One other thing that really hit was his real life example of a girl being saved (Ashley). She had been in and out of a relationship with the same guy and she hit a real low, while she had just got a Christian roomate, whom she called "Fruitcake". After breaking up with her boyfriend, Ashley broke down and fruitcake was there to listen to her. Ashley had been raised in a Christian home, but was not a believer like her father and they both thought the rest of the family were crazy for believing in God. However, she saw that fruitcake was different from all the other Christians she knew. Fruitcake was wierd in all the right ways and normal in all the right ways (I WANT TO BE A FRUITCAKE!). Slowly but surely, Ashley became drawn to fruitcake's belief. Fruitcake showed her messages by Louie and after a while, she became a believer, it was a really powerful message. We finished off with more worship, and the night with more Denny's (becoming a habit?).
The next day, we opened with worship again (Charlie Hall and Matt Redman were there too). Francis Chan shared this time, and this was the most powerful message I heard, mainly because it applied so perfectly to my life. From having a past that was pretty crappy to becoming a Christian to escape it all, and putting imperfections based on my earthly father onto my Heavenly Father, to making all my mistakes AFTER I became a believer and got baptized. Questioning myself whether or not I had the right to believe I could be saved. It really hit me with the fact that God is Love and He NEVER gives up on us, NEVER. I would put up a facade with my Christianity, but it was all wrong and I felt like a burden was lifted when I listened to Francis. On top of it, the passion Francis showed was really moving. I felt a burning desire to become more Christlike and more of a fruitcake, than I had ever felt in my life before.
The second session of that day, Louie spoke again and he burped mid-sentence, YES! it was priceless XD. But the message definitely was good and he finished off the story about Ashley. Ashley came to Christ and her father saw a definite change in her; however, 2 days before recieving her degree, she was in a car accident and died. I'm so glad she was able to become a Christian before it and is now with God. But more amazingly, her father began to have questions about God and he is now friends with Louie. God can do anything and works powerfully through others. The story has made me realize that I have always been an observer as opposed to striving to become someone God can use. Instead of thinking "I want to be like that", I should work my butt off being one of those people, because WE ARE ALL USABLE BY GOD. So this is now my goal and my passion in life. Forget everything else, what's important is that I live my life with God.
The worship at the conference was awesome when it started and unbelievable when it ended. EVERYONE in the stadium was singing at the top of their lungs, arms held up high grasping for God, and jumping out of joy of being with God and knowing that He will never leave us. A Father and Lover of us all. I have some new favorites for worship songs, and I may be listening to them all the time to keep myself reminded of my goal and that God is always with me. "God of this City", "Sing, Sing, Sing", "Hosanna", "Dancing Generation", "Mighty to Save", "Let God Arise", "God of our Yesterdays", and "Everlasting God".
Coming back home, God showed me my greatest temptation: lust. With his strength, I'm working to overcome this weapon of the devil. I want to show my tempations and put it out into the Light, rather than keep it in the darkness and being ashamed. I think it was during a bible study at LCAC studying Ephesians 5: "...Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible..." [Praise God. God is greater than anything of this world and everything beyond, so who should I fear? I am in awe of your love for me Father, may you "heal my heart and make it clean, open up my eyes to the things unseen, show me how to love like You have loved me, break my heart for what breaks Yours, Everything I am for Your kingdom's cause" - "Hosanna" - Christy Nockels. In Jesus' Name, AMEN.]
